Do you know the gunslinger from the Far West who is challenged every day by the first cowboy who arrives in town? This has been the fate of the Renault Captur for years, for a long time the best-selling SUV in Europe. A fate that is even more complicated today because competitors of all kinds continue to arrive in the “country” – non-stop. However, the French company does not give up and on the new model, in the TCe 100 LPG version, has developed a very aggressive offer: that is, an installment of 130 euros (TAN 3.90% – APR 5.06%), an advance of 3,950 euros and then after 36 installments a redemption of 15,464 euros or the return of the car.
It's a clever strategy because it aims to bring a “very Renault” car into the spotlight for customers. That is, a car that has all the DNA of the French company. From a design point of view, the “C-Shape” of the LED daytime running lights integrated into the lower part of the bumper, and the one present in the rear light clusters, both visible both day and night. By the way, the Full LED “Pure Vision” headlights fall into the design discussion: because in addition to improving safety (they have more power and are less dazzling for drivers of passing vehicles) they improve aesthetics and are very fashionable . It's a detail, but it demonstrates the French company's attention to those famous “intangible values” which are the strength of a model and a brand.
But beyond style there is also Renault's strategy in terms of the desire for “grown-up things”. The Captur is in fact a “half electric car”. Yes, because the super hybrid system – derived from F1 – is called E-tech – it always guarantees an electric start, recharges the battery thanks to regenerative braking or during descents, storing part of the energy that should be dissipated. From a technical point of view, the power unit is made up of two electric motors – an “e-Motor” and a high-voltage starter of the HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator) type – and a 1.2-litre lithium ion battery. kWh, with a clutchless dog clutch transmission. All combined with a new generation 1.6-litre petrol engine. The main electric motor ensures starting of the car and traction in fully electric mode up to 75 km/h.
In short, this explains how Renault can think of reaching the ambitious goal of having the greenest mix on the European market by 2025, with a percentage of sales made up of over 65% of electrified models.
