The road test phase has officially begun for Renault Austral, the new SUV from Losanga that will take over from Kadjar in the high-wheeled range of the French carmaker. The transalpine brand has in fact released a first full image of the prototype of the car, with the typical camouflage livery that hides the stylistic details while providing a first glimpse of what will be overall. the appearance of the brand’s new Sport Utility. In addition to the first information about the development, Renault has also provided the first official details about the range of engines that will equip Austral, with several important innovations.
One of the fundamental steps of this test phase is in fact the validation of the powertrain: Renault Austral will be equipped with several hybrid units and some absolute novelties. Under the hood of the new SUV from Losanga there will in fact be room for a new generation E-TECH Hybrid engine, a 1.3 TCe mild-hybrid 12 V engine and the unprecedented 1.2 TCe mild-hybrid 48 V engine, making its debut in the French car manufacturer’s offer. The new engine family will offer reduced fuel consumption and emissions, with 105 g CO2 / km and a maximum power of up to 200 hp. The new Renault Austral, which will be based on the new CMF-CD3 platform, will therefore be subjected to intensive tests for months to ensure the highest levels of quality and reliability in order to verify the life span of the various components.
The so-called “Confirmation Runs” tests provide that one a fleet of one hundred vehicles will travel 2 million kilometers, with Renault Austral which will cross France, Spain, Germany and Romania to verify the validity of what was validated upstream. 900 drivers will cover 600,000 km in real situations, on open roads, while another 1,400,000 km will be driven on the track. On the occasion, the driving assistance systems, soundproofing and comfort of the new Losanga SUV will also be put to the test.
