Take art and put it…on the road. Art, a theme very dear to the Group Renault, which announced the creation of its own Arts and Culture Fund. In fact, it is a endowment fund intended for the conservation of the works of the group’s art collection but also for the support of contemporary creations: and so, in exactly one week, the first work commissioned from a Street Artist will be revealed, together with a restored work from the historical collection and built at the Douai site, Ampere ElectriCity.
Renault Fund for art and culture
The Renault Art Collection was inaugurated a century ago and is filled with several hundred works, including many large formats and ensembles. The same French group talks about an artistic collection that is quite representative of certain currents: ranging from humanist photography to Neo Realism, but also from Narrative Figuration to Op Art. Among the many artists who inspired the Renault collection stand out Victor Vasarely, who in 1972 redesigned the logo of the Lozenge house, and Jean Dubuffet, painter and sculptor as well as inventor of Art Brut.
Artistic commitment
“Naturally present on the street, Groupe Renault shares with Street Art not just a common space but also creativity, popularity, virtuosity and a taste for challenges”, commented Catherine Gros, VP of Arts, Heritage and Sponsorships. The objective, says the French group itself, is to “create an exclusive Street Art collection in the image and likeness of the company, global but characterized by the close link with France. It will be made up of acquisitions, special orders and initiatives to disseminate the artistic culture of Street Art”.
