We are facing a time in which Aspyr Media is developing many ports of old games for current generation consoles, which, although it is not a graphical remastering work, at least amounts to work with good news in terms of performance. One of the sagas with which they have a special fixation is that of Star Warsand they surprisingly announced that another of these HD ports is on the way, this with a title that may not be as well known as many others.
The relaunch of Star Wars: Episode I: Jedi Power Battlesa classic lightsaber action game that originally debuted in 2000. The title will arrive renewed on January 23, 2025and will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC. This game seeks to maintain the essence of the original, with both classic and modern control options, in addition to new playable characters such as Tusken Raider, and the possibility of entering cheat codes that evoke the arcade style of the time.

The publisher invites players to relive the epic battles of Star Wars: The Phantom Menacefacing battle droids, assassins and other characteristic creatures of the universe. Characters include some Jedi such as Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, along with others unlockable from the beginning, such as Darth Maul and Queen Amidala. In addition, the experience adds a cooperative mode in which two players can collaborate in the main campaign, sharing the couch to enjoy this nostalgic adventure together.
The new version offers users the ability to customize some aspects, such as lightsaber colors, and switch between classic and modern control schemes. New surprises have also been added, such as additional mini-games and the famous “Big Head mode”, activatable through cheat codes. This relaunch celebrates the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode Ioffering an experience for both veteran fans and those approaching the game for the first time.
The title promises to take players back to the Palace of Theed, with side-scrolling arcade gameplay that maintains the combat frenzy characteristic of the original, but with improvements that make it more accessible for a new generation of platforms.
