Dozens of people join a tribute organized by the Association of Moroccan Workers and Immigrants to commemorate the death of this father of a family and send a message rejecting xenophobia
Mazarrón remembered this Sunday the Moroccan Youanes Bilal one year ago – this Monday – since he was riddled with bullets on a terrace of the Port in an allegedly racist crime. Dozens of people joined, in the Plaza de las Comunidades, a tribute organized by the Association of Moroccan Workers and Immigrants (Atim) to commemorate the death of this 39-year-old father of a family and launch a message of forceful rejection of xenophobia .
This association exercises the accusation – in addition to the victim’s family – in the trial to be held, before a jury, against Carlos Patricio B., the confessed murderer. “The bullet was already in the chamber of his head long before he decided to go look for the weapon at his house,” members of the association cried out through a manifesto. “Youanes was killed by hatred of the different, low nationalist passions, racism and xenophobia.”
Atim stressed the importance of reporting all hate crimes. He also announced that he is joining a collection of signatures to promote a Popular Legislative Initiative against the irregularity of immigrants.
