Redondo affirms that he decided to lower the tone of Equality due to the high “degree of tension” after the departure of Irene Montero

He said this when asked about it in an interview in ‘La Vanguardia’ reported by Europa Press, where he assured that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, He did not ask him to lower his tone, but to advance in “rights and equalities”.

Regarding the Gender Violence law, he recalled the “great social consensus of 2004” which, although he sees it as valid around feminism, has warned that the extreme right can break it with its entry into the institutions.

He has also highlighted the law as the reform that removed gender violence from the private sphere: “Now, the extreme right intends to return to the intra-familial sphere and, in fact, the terminology it uses is that, intra-family violence, domestic violence,” he insisted.

In any case, he has maintained that if there is a policy in which the entire society shares space, it is equality, literally, which he considers “the great democratic conquest”.

When asked about the renewal of the State Pact against Gender Violence, he said that the work of the Congressional subcommittee is serious and rigorousin his words, and that “there is a good disposition on the part of the vast majority of parliamentary groups.”
