As you already know, one of the studios that Microsoft closed today was Arkane Austin, a team that last year gave us redfall. Despite the poor reception of this title, the developers made it clear that they planned to offer support for this installment, and even a DLC was on the way. However, a few hours ago it was confirmed that the development of redfall has come to an end.
Through an email shared by Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, which was also replicated by Arkane Austin, it has been confirmed that the development of Redfall has come to an end. This means that there are no plans to support this title. While the servers will remain active, this will likely change in the future as well. This is what was said about it:
“Today it was announced that Arkane Austin is closing and will not continue development on Redfall. To everyone who has supported the work of our studio in Austin, thank you. Thank you for spending your time in our worlds and making them yours.”

For its part, the DLC of hero has also been canceled. Those who purchased the Hero Pass as part of some of the special editions will be able to request a refund at the Bethesda official site. Unfortunately, this breaks the promise Microsoft made last year.
After the game’s poor reception, Microsoft agrees to support redfall, and improve the user experience, and that included the Hero DLC. However, Today we know that this was an on-air promise, and in reality it did not mean anything genuine for the company. Beyond the end of game development, Arkane Austin is closing its doors, and that means hundreds of developers have lost their jobs. At the moment, there is no official statement on the number of people who have been laid off. On related topics, you can learn more about the closure of the four studios here. Likewise, the head of Arkane Lyon attacks Microsoft for this decision.
Author’s Note:
redfall It was a bad game. There’s no doubt. However, what has outraged players is the promise that has been broken. Microsoft assured that support for redfall would still be going on, and today we see that this is not true. It is an unfortunate case that has substantially affected the company’s reputation.
