The councilor responsible for the Culture area, Fran Gascón, has announced that next Saturday, November 16, the Suances Reading Clubs will celebrate their annual excursion organized with the collaboration of the Elena Soriano municipal Library.
This year, the cultural outing will revolve around the novel by writer Juan Gómez Bárcena titled “The rest is air.”using the settings of the play that are the protagonists in it to be visited by the group. Thus, this excursion will depart at 9:45 a.m. from the Plaza de Viares de Suances to leave for the town of Toñanes, in the municipality of Alfoz de Lloredo, to visit the cliffs of El Bolao, through a literary walk through the area.
After this visit, the trip will continue to the Cistercian Abbey of Cóbreces to see its cloister. Later, at 12:30 p.m. the group will be able to visit the Miradorio de Ruiloba Wineries, which includes a visit, tasting and food.
Finally, the group will head to Comillas to visit, at 4:30 p.m., Gaudí’s Capricho and return to Suances afterward.
READING CLUB
In November 2002, the first reading club in a library in Cantabria was born in Suances and since then it has not ceased its activity to promote reading. This action, consolidated over time, means that the Suancina municipal library currently has five reading clubs in which residents of Suances who want to share their passion for reading actively participate.
Thus, the Reading Clubs of the Elena Soriano municipal Library are made up of the Almudena Grandes Reading Club, the Chesterton; the Defoe Reading Club, the Senior Center Reading Club and the Children’s Reading Club that meet once a month.
The Suances Reading Clubs are part of the extensive activity carried out by the Elena Soriano Municipal Library in collaboration with the Department of Culture of Suances, with the aim of encouraging reading among its neighbors, starting with children. and consolidating culture in the adult population.
