Reader’s opinion|There is a big difference in the behavior of bus drivers in Helsinki and Tampere.
in Helsinki as a resident of Tampere, I have noticed that customer service on HSL buses often remains just a dream (HS 12.9., 19.9.). The driver doesn’t say hello and doesn’t seem to be interested in who gets on – eye contact is avoided as if it were the worst possible risk of infection. Sometimes I would like to thank you that I even got on board.
In Tampere, on the other hand, stepping into the buses is like stepping into a warm encounter. The driver smiles, says hello and makes eye contact, and these small gestures make a big difference. Even if the bus is late, the driver’s attitude saves the day. It has been a pleasure to experience it for more than 30 years, and always as happily.
