Every fall thousands of man-hours are wasted blowing leaves from lawns and streets just for the sake of it. At worst, the leaves are taken in garbage bags to a landfill to produce methane or to an incinerator to be burned as smoke into the air. At the same time, food is taken from worms and other breakers, so to speak, in front of the nose.
Stopping blowing leaves from yards would save time and money. Employees could focus on the necessary tasks. Air quality and soil nutrient efficiency would improve. The noise nuisance would disappear. But most importantly, managed neglect is an easy way to protect biodiversity. At the same time, we would protect the backbone and future of our own species on Earth.
