Reader opinion How is mail sent to Finland?

The gift sent from Britain to the sister never arrived.

Ladies and gentlemen Suomen Posti and Suomen Tulli, like many other Finns living in Britain, have wondered about the policy of sending parcels to Finland.

I sent my one-year-old sister a birthday present on January 13th. At the shipment stage, I made sure that all the required customs documents brought by Brexit were clearly attached to the shipment. I also made sure that the value of the gift did not exceed the allowable threshold. In addition, I visited Suomen Posti’s website to pay a handling fee for the customs-cleared item, so that my sister would not have to take care of it.

Despite all this, my gift did not arrive. My sister’s questionnaire was answered that the package had been returned to the shipping address because the recipient’s telephone information was missing from the package and Posti was thus unable to report the arrival of the consignment. According to the post office, my sister had received information about the shipment in the mail, even though she had not actually heard anything, despite the inquiries.

It is common practice for mail to arrive with the recipient’s address information. It seems that small Finland, for its part, has changed this old working rule, and now at least the packages of our British expatriates sit at customs for a month and never arrive.

If I, a Finn, cannot send mail to my home country, do citizens of other countries have any hope? Why has Brexit not made it more difficult to send mail to France or other European countries?
