Reader opinion Background music spoils nature programs

Television background music is persistently used in speech programs, although it is widely known that it makes it difficult to watch programs. Hearing impaired people in particular suffer from this. Music doesn’t add any value to the programs, rather it just annoys. It is completely unnatural to back up nature programs with music. As such, a big thank you to the high-quality nature programs on television. Unfortunately, however, they are mostly backed by music, with few exceptions.

Why in the world do nature’s own sounds fade under uncharacteristic artificial music? You would think that nature’s own sounds, even the silence associated with nature as an absolute value, offer the viewer a closer experience of nature than artificial “enlivening”!
