“A nice analysis by Eus about the AIDS statements” and “Let Rutte focus first and foremost on his own behavior and the problems in the Netherlands”: these are reactions to topics from the news that concern readers. Below are all letters that appeared in the newspaper of Wednesday 20 October. You can send in a response yourself via [email protected].
Column Özcan akyol | This madness needs to be contradicted more often
“Baudet’s madness is fruitful” (Column 19-10). Nice analysis by Eus about the AIDS statements of Thierry Baudet. It is obvious that self-imposed genius borders on madness. Following Humberto Tan, these delusions must more often be filtered flawlessly so that only residual waste remains. There is still too much silence.

Stand NEC | In the legal search we blame each other
‘Hossen remains dangerous’ (AD 19-10). In Nijmegen people are diligently looking for the cause of the collapse of a grandstand. This search is probably legal in nature, because we like to blame each other. This is usually about money, but now perhaps it’s about image (and image is money). So reports and impact assessments that were once signed are revealed, which cover the risks. That’s how it goes. But what we learn from this is that it’s just a very bad idea to design a ‘outing section’, where the most fanatical away supporters like to celebrate their victory, as a balcony. Not that difficult, I say as a layman, without a technical or legal background.

Criticism of Poland | Polish government has point in response to Rutte
The Polish government has a point in its response to Mark Rutte’s statements about how this country should behave. Let Rutte focus first and foremost on his own behavior and the problems within the Netherlands. Plenty of examples, I would say: selective memory, demonstrably lying to the House of Representatives, not or insufficiently informing the House, on or about the edges of the constitution during the caretaker status of his government. And so I can go on and on. In short, let him who is free from sin cast the first stone.

Death Colin Powell | At least he admitted it
‘Hero regretted lying about Iraq’ (AD 19-10). It strikes me that when reporting on the death of Commander-in-Chief Colin Powell it is always mentioned that he regrets the lie about Iraq, while our Prime Minister Balkenende happily hobbled after the Americans into the Iraqi sandbox. That was done illegally, without UN permission. It was suggested at the time that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, and that turned out to be a vulgarly cobbled together lie. It is to the credit of this US commander in chief that he has admitted this mistake. At the time, Mr. Balkenende initiated his own ‘independent’ investigation and interpreted it as: ‘With the knowledge of then…..bla bla’. In the Netherlands we are apparently good at hiding yet another black page in history.

Death Colin Powell II | If only we had listened to Hans Blix then
In 2003, Colin Powell went to war in the West by lying about the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. This information makes it into all the newspapers and other news media. But one important fact is still not mentioned, namely the statement of the leader of the investigation into these weapons, Hans Blix, a Swedish diplomat. After a careful investigation in Iraq with the cooperation of Saddam Hussein, this Blix had not yielded any indication of the presence of weapons. A man who might have influenced history significantly had he been listened to. Today we are many wars and casualties further, and our world is a mess.

Vaccination | More research into the different story vaccination
How wonderful to see that the letter sent in from J. Hoppe from Rockanje is letter of the day. It strikes me every day that all newspapers, including the AD, are only concerned with putting the unvaccinated in a negative corner. In my opinion, this letter should have been on the front page. It would do the AD if there were some more research into the other side of the vaccination story. For example: the natural defense system that many people have. The medication against corona, about which we suddenly don’t read anything anymore. The ventilation in nursing homes. Healthy eating, nutritional supplements (see Juglen Zwaan), and so on.
Reina van Keken
Vaccination II | This letter brightens my day
All tribute to J. Hoppe from Rockanje for the letter of the day. Thank you, you colored my day. And AD, thank you for posting this letter.
