The coronavirus has disrupted some of the unavoidable appointments of each year. One of them was the traditional Christmas party organized by the Rayo Vallecano Veterans Association, always for charitable purposes. This time the duel will have to wait, but help will not, so necessary in these times, in which a health crisis and an economic crisis converge.
On Saturday morning the food delivery ceremony will take place raised both by Rayista veterans and by the Mesón Casa Ángel futsal team, their great ally this edition. Both have managed to reunite approximately 800 kilos for the soup kitchen ‘La Esperanza’, managed by the Argos Foundation and located in the Pozo del Tío Raimundo.
And it is that the red-haired veterans They not only have experience in football, but also in terms of solidarity. Last year they organized a meeting with a selection of veterans from the AFE, the previous year they faced Rayo Femenino … and in all of them there was a clear winner: the neighborhood. Donations — there was free entry for the delivery of two kilos of non-perishable food— they reached a thousand kilos in the 2020 edition. Record.
This action aims to help the most disadvantaged families in Vallecas, something common for the Veterans Association, chaired by Cota and in whose ranks Aganzo, Azkoitia, José Luis Gallego, Mauri, Míchel II, Pedro Aguado … Before the emergence of COVID-19, they played charity games and participated in the project “Reminiscence, Soccer Workshops” for Alzheimer’s patients, something they hope to resume as soon as the pandemic passes.
Rayismo collected almost 11,000 kilos of food
Members of the first team and the subsidiary of the male and female Rayo, veterans, clubs and thousands of anonymous rayistas were also involved in the initiative of the ADRV Platform that collected 10,930 kilos of food.
