Deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB) claims to work for “political construction” to present the text in the Chamber
The rapporteur of the (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of tax reform in the Chamber, deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), stated this Wednesday (6.Dec.2023) that its limit for the new opinion will be the “political construction”. The congressman also said that he is working to create a consensus for voting on the text next week.
“We will work to build this consensus until next week”, he said in an interview with journalists. Aguinaldo spoke about the topic after meeting with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
Watch (2min31s):
The declaration is in line with the intention of the President of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL). Earlier, the deputy said that the text would be analyzed next week.
Aguinaldo reinforced that he is working to ensure that the final text is promulgated in 2023. He also said that he heard Tarcísio’s requests regarding tax reform and that he will work to “a collaborative, not competitive, federation”.
Before the meeting, the rapporteur said that he is considering streamlining the PEC, but without interfering in the scope of the reform. He stated that he must meet by Thursday (Dec 7) with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), to talk about adjustments to the text.
The deputy defends the promulgation of the proposal in a “complete”, without slicing – when only the part in which there is agreement between the Chamber and Senate is promulgated and the other sections are analyzed later.
The PEC was approved in the Senate on November 8 and returned for analysis by deputies. The government expects the text to be promulgated by the end of the year.
In addition to Aguinaldo, the deadline is defended by the presidents of the Chamber and the Senate.
