“Rangnick will be in the stadium stands for today’s match and will start his new assignment tomorrow morning,” a Man United spokesman told Reuters on Thursday.
The 63-year-old German Rangnick was appointed last Monday as interim coach for the Red Devils until the end of the current season, to succeed Norway’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The English club sacked Solskjaer last week, while Rangnick was waiting for a work visa in England to carry out his new assignment.
Although Rangnick will already be at Old Trafford during United’s match against Arsenal later on Thursday, current interim coach Michael Carrick will lead the team during the match.
Rangnick, who left his position as director of sport and development at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, will take charge of the team for the first time in the English Premier League match against Crystal Palace next Sunday.
