Kadyrov criticized “medieval methods” regarding migrants
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, criticized migration policy in Russia. He pointed to its tightening and admitted that a number of measures taken in relation to migrants disappoint him.
According to Kadyrov, it is not the newcomers who are to blame for the current situation, but those who were supposed to be in charge of control. He also doubted that mass expulsions would improve the situation.
Kadyrov believed that migrants were being subjected to a “disorderly inquisition”
Head of Chechnya called change migration policy “not in such a disgusting way, when they frantically attack all non-locals.” “They are detaining people without any ceremony, and recently these events have been carried out very harshly,” he said.
Kadyrov said that the problem cannot be solved by mass expulsion of migrants, and besides, it was not their fault. “Here the root is the reason for the carelessness of those who at one time should have dealt with issues within their competence and promptly responded to any escalating processes. But there was practically no control,” he was indignant.
The head of Chechnya also recalled that inciting hatred towards migrants in society will only worsen the situation, and called for the establishment of a competent control system. “But there is no way to subject citizens of other countries to a random inquisition. It is necessary to eliminate the causes, and not deal with their consequences,” he added.
I urge you to leave medieval approaches and work on a targeted solution to the issue
Kadyrov noted that there are many more law-abiding migrants than law-breakers, and if you “drive away” those in Russia now, there is no guarantee that others will be better off.
The government said there will be no more illegal migration
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that there will no longer be illegal migration in Russia – work with labor resources will continue, since it is necessary, but legal.
Khusnullin noted that Russia and Tajikistan need to create a sub-working group and outline actions related to ensuring the security of the two countries. “So that we understand who is coming, how they are coming, so that we provide assistance,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the Government of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, said that Dushanbe is concerned about the growing cases of inadmissibility, entry bans and deportations of Tajik citizens. He added that he has information about the constant detention of Tajik citizens for several days upon their entry into Russia.

Putin spoke about the absence of a meaningful migration policy in Russia
In June, the country’s President Vladimir Putin admitted that Russia has not yet built a meaningful migration policy. Putin recalled that previously the Federal Migration Service dealt with issues of newcomers, which as a result “was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for security reasons.” According to the head of state, the big question is how effective this decision has been.
“You can’t see that the problem doesn’t exist. She is. We also need to attract migrant workers, this is obvious. (…) But we need not just labor migrants, but people of a certain qualification, a certain training, with knowledge of the language, with knowledge of our traditions, and so on,” he pointed out.
