The overtaking immediately in the constructors’ standings by Williams must trigger a spark at home Alfa Romeo, which seriously risks ending the season in penultimate position among the constructors, ahead of only Haas, and it certainly would not be a great result. Spa does not seem the most suitable circuit for the Hinwil team’s comeback ambitions, but Williams did not have to do well in Hungary either, and instead the sensational episodes of the first corner have overturned all predictions. In view of Belgium, these are the words of Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen, which in Spa has collected four victories (only Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher have done better).
Kimi Räikkönen: “I enjoyed enjoying my free time: spending so much time with family is not something we do often, I made sure to make the most of it. Now, however, the holidays are already a thing of the past and I can’t wait to run again: Spa is the perfect place to run, it’s a nice circuit where there are some great races and Sundays can be unpredictable. The situation on the track will be similar to that before the summer: we must be smart and get the most out of our car and the circumstances, in order to bring home a good result.“.
Antonio Giovinazzi: “I spent a few weeks with family and friends, which is always a great thing when you have such a busy schedule. The summer break was a good opportunity to train a little but above all to recover, physically and mentally, from the first seven months of the season: it was a good break and I feel good, I can’t wait to get back in the car. Spa is an epic track, where the rider can make a huge difference, and I want to start the second half of the season in the best possible way“.
