Rai 2 advertises the film Prey but gets confused and uses images from the video game of the same name

Do you know Prey? No, not that Prey, the other Prey (not to be confused with Prey, obviously). Let’s face it, there are many Prey in circulation and if you are not knowledgeable on the subject you could confuse one with the other. That’s exactly what happened at Rai 2 which, it must be said, made a slightly bigger slip-up than expected. Okay, maybe it’s better to explain more clearly.

The film aired last night on Rai 2 Prey, prequel to the Predator saga which follows a Comanche girl who tries to carve out her own space in the tribe and finds herself having to face a Predator. All simple, up to here. It’s a shame that Rai 2 published this image when advertising the film.

As you are gamers, you will immediately realize what has happened. Rai 2 used an image of Prey – the video game – to present Prey – the movie -. From our point of view it is a fairly big mistake given that we are talking about two completely different works from every point of view, except perhaps that in some way both can be classified as “sci-fi” (but in the case of the film it would be a bit ‘a stretch).

Whoever was responsible for making that cover probably had no idea what the film was and simply searched online for an image to use and it seems that Prey (the video game) has beaten Prey (the film) in the top Google results . The mistake would have been bigger if he had opted for the original game, but in that case we believe the doubt would have arisen.

Prey, the video game

Prey is a game by Arkane Austin (the recently closed team) and puts us in the shoes of Morgan Yu, a researcher who works on Talos I station near the Moon. Without giving away too many spoilers, a group of aliens called Typhon – on whom experiments were being carried out – have freed themselves and now the entire structure is invaded by these creatures.

This is an action style game immersive sim highly appreciated by critics and the (few) players who played it. Unfortunately it never received a sequel and with the closure of the team it seems credible that there are not great hopes for a new game.
