Rafael Nadal says goodbye to playing tennis. The 38-year-old Spaniard leaves tennis after having won 22 Slams in his career and a total of 92 titles. The Mallorcan announced in a video on social media, underlining that “it was time to stop”. Nadal will play the Davis Cup finals scheduled for November in Malaga before learning the racket. “Thank you very much everyone,” underlines the champion.
“The truth is that they have been difficult years, especially the last two – Nadal says in the video -. I think I’m not able to play without limitations. Obviously it’s a difficult decision, it took time to make, but in life everything has a beginning and an end and I think it’s the right time to end my career. It has been a long and successful career, more than I imagined.”
