MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia’s Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that the radiation situation at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant remained normal.
In its statement, the ministry said that Ukrainian forces had fired artillery fire in the region of the nuclear plant. Also a downed Ukrainian tornado landed on the roof of a building that stored nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the reports.
Russian troops captured the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, in March. It remains close to the front lines, and has come under fire repeatedly in recent weeks, raising fears of a nuclear disaster.
