Oleg Voloshin, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Opposition Platform – For Life party, spoke about the apocalyptic mood after the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about American missiles in Ukraine. He wrote about this in his Facebook-account.
The parliamentarian recalled the moment when the Russian leader, at a meeting of the Valdai Club, commented on the assumption that US missiles could appear near Kharkov even without Kiev’s formal entry into NATO. “And what should we do with this? We are not going there with our missiles – they are thrusting them under our nose, ”Putin said. After the Russian president stressed that this, of course, is a problem.
The Ukrainian MP called this remark “gloomy” and explained that the current situation can be compared with the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, when the United States and the USSR were on the brink of war after the deployment of Soviet missiles in Cuba. He also explained that if the United States can deploy missiles in Ukraine, then they will be able to put forward an ultimatum to Russia. For example, according to him, Washington may demand that Moscow demilitarize Crimea or stop military-technical cooperation with China.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, in an interview with the Polish Institute of International Relations, said that his country will be able to bear full responsibility for a safe life in Europe. According to Kuleba, Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO is only a matter of time – the country is implementing all the necessary policy directions for this. The Foreign Minister called the last 30 years of Ukraine’s history a period of great success, noting that the country has problems that require solutions.
