Ilya Kiva, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Opposition Platform – For Life party, thanked the Georgian authorities for the arrest of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. The politician wrote about this on the page in Facebook…
According to the politician, the Ukrainian state has freed itself from a senseless waste of funds on the maintenance of a “swindler on tour”. “As a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, I want to thank the leadership of Georgia and personally the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri for the principled position regarding the arrest and arrest of the international touring swindler Mikhail Saakashvili,” Kiva wrote.
The deputy stressed that Saakashvili’s “maintenance” cost Ukraine tens of thousands of dollars a month.
On October 14, supporters of Saakashvili, who is now in prison, held a large-scale rally in the center of Tbilisi. The rally was organized by the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, founded by the ex-president. Participants held posters with the words “Freedom to Misha” and “No to political persecution” in their hands.
Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1 after his return after eight years of emigration. The reason for the visit of the ex-president was the intention to participate in protest actions after the elections on October 2.
