The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Voloshin expressed the opinion that the refusal of the Ukrainian authorities from the Russian vaccine against coronavirus without providing any alternative is complicity in the murder of their own citizens, reports RIA News.
He noted that Kiev could launch the production of the drug on its territory under a license, as in Belarus.
“In any case, some alternative should be offered,” the parliamentarian stressed and asked how politics can be prioritized over the health and life of the population.
Voloshin stressed that in many countries vaccinations will be free of charge.
In August, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation registered the world’s first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19. It was developed at the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry. The drug is manufactured jointly with the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
A number of Ukrainian officials called on the country’s authorities to purchase the Russian vaccine. First, the head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Maxim Stepanov, admitted the possibility of purchasing a vaccine if it receives WHO approval, but later said that Kiev was not planning to purchase the drug from the Russian Federation.
