There Formula 1 2022 has completed its first third of the season and it is already time to take stock, including new technical regulations and the competitiveness of the cars. There are several positive aspects that emerged from the first seven races, such as the ability of the single-seaters to follow those in front more closely without losing too much aerodynamic load, but obviously there are also several weak points (highlighted above all in Monaco).
Then there is the battle at the top between Ferrari and Red Bull, with diametrically opposed projects from a conceptual point of view that so far converge towards very similar performances. And let’s not forget the Mercedes, which as dominatrix of the last eight years finds itself chasing with a car that is too extreme and in the throes of a physical phenomenon – porpoising – unknown until the first winter tests, which inevitably brought back the theme of the very few tests in Formula 1.
We talked about all this (and more) with Mauro Forghierihistoric technical director of Ferrari between 1962 and 1984, in an exclusive interview with the podcast of FormulaPassion.it.
