Quartararo is the Scrooge of the grill
When everything seemed to be ready for an escape elsewhere Fabio Quartararo has announced the two-year renewal with Yamaha until 2026, an agreement which according to rumors exceeds seven zeros reaching the astronomical figure of 12 million euros per season, a compensation not far from the astronomical ones awarded to Jorge Lorenzo for the two-year period in Ducati and to Marc Marquez in Honda in the four-year period 2021-2024, an agreement terminated early by the eight-time world champion in order to be able to get involved already this season astride a Ducati customer of the Gresini team.
The CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivolacommented on the agreement reached between Quartararo and Yamaha to extend their collaboration for another two years: “The limit we have on an economic level in terms of rider salaries is very much linked to the performance of the bike. If a driver wants to win, I don't know if money should be the determining factor in this decision – his words reported by the newspaper Autosport – first the rider should ask himself if he wants to earn a lot or if he wants to win and I believe that the Aprilia project allows you to fight to win. Yamaha's announcement? I don't usually comment on what concerns other teams, I'll just say that it seems to me that Yamaha is moving in the right direction.”
Rivola also added that Aprilia will most likely be the last to define the pair of riders officials ahead of next season: “We will probably be the last to announce the riders also out of respect for Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Vinales, we will give them time in their decision to continue or not.” Aprilia may also have 'available' Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, the riders included in the Trackhouse satellite team managed this year by the returning Davide Brivio, riders who in turn have direct contracts with the Noale manufacturer.
