A truly absurd event took place perhaps in the most unthinkable location for many people who were there, like every other morning. A simple argument at Salerno fish market it turned into a tragedy at dawn today, Tuesday 1 October. Apparently, in fact, it was a banal dispute that ended very badly, very badly indeed.
Inside the fish market, the balance is dramatic: two men they lost their lives. A third man, believed to be the perpetrator of the shooting, however, was identified almost immediately. The argument would have culminated in a series of gunshots, with the intentions probably not only being to argue but to settle accounts.
There shooting saw the immediate intervention of the police to start the investigation. The alleged perpetrator, shortly afterwards, during the morning, subsequently handed himself over to the authorities.
According to the first ones reconstructionsthe attacker, a 72-year-old trader, opened fire on two men, aged 58 and 48 respectively. The first died instantly, while the second died shortly after being rushed to hospital. Numerous ambulances responded to the scene of the shooting to provide assistance.
There was no need to go hunting for the killer, as the man responsible for the double murder he showed up spontaneously at the Mercatello police station. With him also the weapon with which he would have committed the crime, with a confession that would have been almost full.
At the moment, the Carabinieri and the police, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, are carrying out the necessary checks. According to what was reported by the ‘Corriere del Mezzogiorno’, the victims were a Neapolitan market seller and a man, probably an acquaintance of his, who died at the Ruggi hospital in Salerno. The motive appears to be linked to a discussion on sale of fish: during the negotiation, the 72-year-old allegedly pulled out a gun, shooting at the two men.
