According to Al-Ansari, Hamas is still studying the ceasefire proposal in Gaza.
Al-Ansari added that mediation efforts by Qatar, Egypt and the United States are still continuing.
Hamas said in a statement circulated on Thursday that the plan outlined by Joe Biden last week is largely acceptable, but it does not reflect the conditions that the movement saw in the negotiation process, considering that the American president accurately represents the Israeli position.
The leaders of 17 countries, including the United States, issued a joint statement on Thursday, calling on Israel and Hamas to “make any final concessions necessary to complete this deal.”
The first phase of the American proposal stipulates a ceasefire for 6 weeks, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas, and the exchange of some hostages and prisoners.
In the second phase, there will be the release of all hostages and a permanent cessation of hostilities, along with the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The third phase includes the reconstruction of Gaza as part of a broader stabilization process in the Middle East.
This plan faces Israeli objection, as its leaders are determined to resume the war until Hamas is completely eliminated.
