British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, were a woman.
Johnson’s statements came in the middle of an interview with ZDF, a German television channel, in which the prime minister was asked for his views on the conflict that began in Ukrainian territory on February 24.

There, Johnson took the opportunity to assert that the war would never have happened if a woman was in charge of Russia.
“If Putin were a woman, which he obviously isn’t, I really don’t think he would have gone into this crazy macho war.of invasion and violence in the way he did,” he said.
According to Johnson, hePutin’s actions in Ukraine are “a clear example of toxic masculinity.”
“If you want a perfect example of toxic masculinity, it is what he is doing in the Ukraine,” he emphasized.

The British leader also took advantage of the interview to highlight the importance of women occupying positions of power and called for girls in the world to have access to a better education so that they can be the leaders of the future.
“More women in positions of power are needed to avoid similar tragedies,” he said, as quoted by the British media MirrorUK.
Johnson also stated that everyone hopes that the war in Ukraine will end soon, although there is no close chance since Putin has no intentions of peace.

The response from the Russian side
And Russian authorities and personalities were quick to respond to Boris Johnson’s statements.
One of the first to express his opinion was Vladimir Solovyov, a Russian television presenter known for being a “spokesman” for Putin.
If you want a perfect example of toxic masculinity, it’s what he’s doing in the Ukraine.
Solovyov claimed that Johnson is not “manly enough” and that the British politician would not be able to declare war on Russia and President Putin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also gave his opinion, saying: “Freud would have loved to have such a subject alive for his research,” he said.
“Boris Johnson has a great imagination. What the hell did the Seven do together?“, commented Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry on Telegram, referring to the summit of the leaders of the seven main powers of the G7.
