Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he would like to live in a world in which personal hygiene products would not harm the environment and airplanes would not pollute the atmosphere.
“I would like to live in a world in which personal hygiene products would not harm the environment, we would fly on airplanes that would not pollute the atmosphere,” the president said during the Russia Calling! Investment forum. November 30th.
In addition, the Russian leader noted that he wants food to be procured and disposed of properly.
“If we strive for a result, we will achieve it,” Putin stressed.
Earlier in the day, the president said that the Russian energy sector is one of the greenest in the world.
On November 1, the Russian government announced that Russian investments in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 should amount to about 1% of the country’s GDP, and in 2031–2050 they should grow to 1.5–2% of GDP. The goal of Russia’s new low-carbon development strategy is to achieve carbon neutrality with sustainable economic growth.
On October 31, Putin, speaking at the G20 summit via videoconference, called for an international rating of environmental projects in terms of their reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. He also stressed the need to increase the absorption of greenhouse gases in the world, for which the Russian Federation has the latest agricultural technologies and mechanisms for the use of forests.
In June, the Russian government approved a plan to implement the country’s energy strategy for the next 15 years. The plan was prepared taking into account Putin’s instructions.
