The Russian president’s speech came in a speech Friday during a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council, which is defined as an economic union of countries located in Central and North Asia and in Eastern Europe.
Putin said that Russia is considering signing a free trade agreement with Egypt, with which it shares economic projects. He also referred to the discussion of integration with the UAE.
The Russian president added that his country is working to intensify talks on the free zone agreement with Egypt.
Putin explained that his country “expands the scope of transactions in the local currency (ruble) with friendly countries,” noting that “the Russian government is taking timely decisions to revitalize the markets and the financial sector.”
He expressed optimism that closer integration of the Eurasian Economic Council countries “will allow the countries of the Council to become economically stronger and will significantly reduce their dependence on outsiders, including the political environment.”
The Russian president said that the process of integration within the countries of the Eurasian Economic Council, the advantages of which are especially evident “in the current difficult international situation in the face of aggression from some unfriendly countries.”
