Russian President Vladimir Putin has introduced a bill to the State Duma that allows to increase the term of service of marshals, army generals and admirals of the fleet. Document published on July 19 in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament.
“With military personnel who have reached the age limit for military service, a new contract on military service may be concluded in the manner determined by the Regulations on the procedure for military service: those who have the military rank of Marshal of the Russian Federation, General of the Army, Admiral of the Fleet, for a period established by the decision the President of the Russian Federation; having the military rank of colonel-general, admiral – until they reach the age of 70; having a different military rank – until they reach the age of 65, ”- follows from the document.
The explanatory note to the bill indicates that in some cases it becomes necessary to extend the contract with the most experienced and highly qualified military personnel holding the military rank of Marshal of the Russian Federation, army general and admiral of the fleet and after they reach the specified age.
In this regard, the initiative “provides for the establishment by a decision of the President of the Russian Federation of the term of the contract upon its extension.”
The law comes into force on the day of its official publication.
Earlier, on June 23, Vladimir Putin announced the improvement of the army to ensure the security of the Russian Federation, to guarantee peace and security for the people of Russia.
