Russian President Vladimir Putin, in response to aggressive statements in the West, ordered the Ministry of Defense to put the Russian deterrence forces on special duty. This is reported TASS.
At a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov, Putin noted that the West is not only taking unfriendly actions in the economic sphere with respect to Moscow, but also allowing aggressive statements.
“Therefore, I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to transfer the containment forces of the Russian army to a special mode of combat duty,” he said.
On February 24, Putin announced the launch of a special operation in the Donbass, during which the Russian authorities “will strive to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.” In response, the EU countries, as well as the UK, the US, Canada and others began to impose sanctions on Russia.
