Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone this Wednesday (18.Sep.2024) with the president Lula da Silva (PT) and offered humanitarian aid against the fires in Brazil.
According to the Kremlin, the leaders also discussed several international issues. Putin thanked Brazil for supporting him while he was at the head of BRICS and spoke about preparations for the bloc’s summit in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24.
Lula and Putin stressed the importance of cooperation within BRICS, especially in the financial sector. They also emphasized their willingness to deepen coordination both within the G20, which Brazil is chairing this year, and in other international leadership spaces.
Finally, according to the statement, Lula showed interest in helping to resolve the conflict with Ukraine, which did not result in new developments. The leaders agreed to meet at the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October.
