Putin expressed interest in Ukraine’s neutral status

The neutral status of Ukraine is an object of interest for Russia, said the country’s President Vladimir Putin. His words are conveyed RIA News.

“Not joining any blocs, limiting armaments to a certain extent, and so on—this is, of course, what the Russian Federation is interested in,” he said.

Earlier, international political scientist and professor at the University of Chicago John Mearsheimer called Ukraine’s neutrality and its refusal to join NATO as a condition for peace and the end of the conflict. In his opinion, the United States needs to make it clear to the Ukrainian leadership that it is unable to provide for military needs and the return of lost territories.
