Russian President Putin: statements about Russia’s plans to attack Europe are nonsense
Statements about Russia’s alleged plans to attack Europe are nonsense. This is how President Vladimir Putin commented on such messages during a speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the event is broadcast on Telegram– Kremlin channel.
The head of state said that such statements are used to justify the arms race and connected them with anti-Russian attacks. “The anti-Russian propaganda campaign (…) is accompanied by speculation that Russia is allegedly going to attack Europe (…) I have spoken about this many times. We all understand that this is absolute nonsense,” said the Russian leader.
At the same time, Putin noted that the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis are “reverging” around the world, and because of the West, the world is getting closer to the point of no return.
Earlier, at the end of February 2024, the head of state stated that the West itself was hatching plans to strike Russian territory and send NATO troops to Ukraine. “We remember the fate of those who once sent contingents to the territory of our country. But now the consequences for possible interventionists will be much more tragic,” Putin concluded.
