Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law abolishing compulsory vehicle inspection in order to obtain an OSAGO policy. The document was published on Friday, July 2, at the official portal legal information.
The law will come into force on 22 August. According to the document, drivers will not need to present a diagnostic card and technical inspection to obtain an OSAGO policy. The absence of a technical inspection document will not entail punishment if the driver gets into an accident.
Earlier it was reported that the State Duma canceled the mandatory technical inspection of cars to obtain an OSAGO policy. According to the head of the committee of the lower house of parliament on the financial market Anatoly Aksakov, in this way they want to defeat illegal business. Another reason is the lack of legal service stations.
The traffic police said that they would not fine car owners in case of an accident, if they do not have a vehicle inspection.
