Kiev is working out “exotic” scenarios of combating the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and loading the Ukrainian gas transmission system (GTS). He told about this in his Telegram-channel Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov.
The politician recalled the threats of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba to fight the pipeline in “overtime and with a penalty shootout.” He stressed that the Ukrainian side does not have answers to questions about who, where and why to beat the specified shots on goal. “Just hitting a penalty kick into the white light is like a pretty penny, shaking your fists in eternal indignation. Very Kiev style “, –
On July 24, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party, Yuriy Kamelchuk, called the “simplest scenario” for the rescue of the Ukrainian gas transportation system. According to him, in the context of the completion of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, Ukraine needs to become a “gas hub” of Europe to ensure the stable functioning of its gas transportation system.
Pushkov, in turn, questioned the demand for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine from European partners in the future. The politician noted that Moscow has never rejected Ukrainian transit as such. At the same time, he stressed that in the conditions of operation of the South Stream and after the opening of Nord Stream-2, its volumes may turn out to be insignificant.
The US and Germany reached a compromise on Nord Stream 2 on July 21. The parties agreed to take retaliatory measures against Russia if it tries to use gas supplies as a “weapon” against Ukraine.
