Russian Senator Aleksey Pushkov called the prices for lard in Ukraine insane, and the possible import of this product from Argentina into the Ukrainian territory is total degradation. The corresponding statement on Thursday, November 25, he made in response to the publication of the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov on Twitter.
“We arrived, in general … Total degradation of Ukraine under the slogan” forward to Europe! ” – wrote Pushkov.
A day earlier, on his Twitter account, the Ukrainian ex-prime minister was surprised that a kilogram of lard costs 500 hryvnia (about 1.4 thousand rubles). He pointed out that the lowest cost of a product to date is 200 hryvnia. Lard is sold for both 300 and 350 hryvnias, which, according to Azarov, is impressive.
“This is no longer fat, but some kind of ‘gold. <...> Here are the so-called reforms for you,” the former prime minister noted.
On November 24, it became known that in Ukraine the price of bacon set an absolute record – 500 hryvnia. Moreover, according to information “RIA News”, this situation has arisen due to the fact that farmers refuse to breed greasy pigs because of too high costs.
According to the Association of Livestock Breeders of Ukraine, the price of protein and grain feed increased by 20–40%.
Earlier, on September 5, the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that the President of the country Volodymyr Zelensky did not understand how to govern the country in 2.5 years in power. In particular, according to him, “lard was brought into the country”.
On June 18, an expert on pig breeding of the Association of Livestock Breeders of Ukraine Olga Makhno warned of a possible shortage of lard in the country, and also spoke about the unprofitability of raising pigs in Ukraine, which is due to the rise in prices for the feed component: for example, since the beginning of 2019, the cost of animal feed has increased by 20– 40% and continues to grow steadily to this day.
