One of Tesla’s greatest assets is its ‘own’ fast-charging network. A complete ecosystem that is not only quite extensive, but has also proven to have sufficient capacity to achieve the promised fast-charging values. A big difference with the competition where those practical achievements often stay far away from the stated theory.
A lead that Tesla looks set to increase. To accommodate the technological evolution of high-performance batteries, the manufacturer is now coming up with the V4. The biggest difference here, compared to the V3, is that it boosts the charging power from 250 kW to 300 kW.

An increase that is mainly intended to accommodate the arrival of the really new models – including the Cybertruck – which will all use batteries with a higher density and therefore energy capacity.
Although the V4s will of course also serve the existing fleet. Leading the way are the restyled Model S and Model X. Both models will also have to roll out in the US, as the new Superchargers will first be rolled out in their own market.
By the way, the stocking is not over yet. After all, Musk does not think that 300 kW will suffice. In the same presentation – that of the Model S Plaid, by the way – he already spoke of a V5 that would achieve 350 kW and more.
It is suddenly good news for all other EV drivers. Since Tesla is gradually opening its Supercharger network to non-Tesla drivers and models, this could give a significant boost to electric mobility. Literally and figuratively.
