Over 350 quintals of waste recovered from the seabed and on Italian beaches thanks to the new initiative of FIPSAS (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing, Underwater Activities and New Fins) in collaboration with Suzuki. This is Pulifondali & Pulispiagge which was staged in 40 different Italian locations involving members and volunteers, many of them students from local schools, who were involved last June 5th, on the occasion of “World Environment Day”.
The collected waste
Full participation also by the General Command of the Port Authority Corps – Coast Guard, RAI and the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security. Recovered ghost nets, washing machines, old sewing machines, sunken hulls, marine engines and plastic. This last one is the sad part trait d’union of all the locations touched by Pulifondali & Pulispiagge, from north to south, including islands. “Every year – explained Prof. Ugo Claudio Matteoli, President of FIPSAS – we ask our members to “give us” a day for the environment. Compared to last season, this time the locations that wanted to be present doubled. A beautiful signal that gives us the strength to continue on a path necessary for generations to come.”
The places where Suzuki has intervened
The institutional location of 2024 was Venice, where volunteers and schools collected waste starting from the Grand Canal. Technology too #lavalacqua made his contribution. Installed on two DF115B and DF140B outboards, the microplastic filtering system collected what was dispersed in the water and not visible, simply by sailing in the lagoon.
