The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont was elected this Sunday as the new president of Junts with the support of 90.18% of the party’s members, as well as the rest of the leadership positions.
In it congress that they have held since Friday in Calella (Barcelona), Puigdemont thus takes the reins of the team again a year and a half after leaving the leadership, and he does so with a renewed executive tailored to the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull.
Until now, the presidency of Junts fell to Laura Borràs, who in this conclave has said goodbye to the position and her next destination will be to at the head of the new party foundation if their employers approve.

The rest of the members of the executive are Francesc Ten, who will address the chapter on defense and promotion of the language; Ariadna Urroz, youth and sports; Teresa Vallverdú, security and civility; Salvador Vergés, infrastructure, and Xavier Vinyals as head of strategic action and internationalization.
Other organs
As planned, Pilar Calvo will be the new president of the National Council of Junts with 89.69% support, and replaces the current president of the Parliament, Josep Rull, in office.
In his speech in the plenary session of the congress, he thanked Puigdemont and Turull for the opportunity that, in his opinion, was not expected and represents a challenge: “The Junts pineapple is inclusive and open”he has defended.
The Junts deputy in Congress Josep Pagès has received the support of 90.35% to take charge of the Guarantees Commission, while 88.12% have done so for Montserrat Girbau for the Electoral Sindicature, 62.81% for Marcel Padrós as Militant Defender and 97.48% for Josep Maria Vallès to direct the Municipalist Space.
The PNV sees Junts reinforced
The president of the EBB of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, has stated that Junts emerges “reinforced” from its Congress and has indicated that both formations will continue to defend “each in their own space and together in state bodies the path of recognition of the Basque and Catalan national realities.”
