On Monday on Independence Day, there are some exceptions in downtown tram and bus traffic due to the students ’torchlight procession.

The procession will leave the Hietaniemi Cemetery at five in the afternoon and arrive at the Senate Square at about six. The procession affects the routes of tram lines 1, 2 and 7. Lines 1 and 2 run in both directions from 4.50 pm to 5.30 pm directly on Mannerheimintie. Do not drive through the stops at Töölöntori, Apollonkatu, Sammonkatu, Hanken and the Natural History Museum.

Line 7 will run through Kaivokatu and Kaisaniemenkatu without a Kruununhaa link from 5.30 pm to 6.15 pm.

In addition, there are momentary delays on all tram lines running along the route’s streets, HSL says.

Procession affect the route of bus line 24. Departures from Kamppi at 16.33 and 17.03 and from Seurasaari at 16.29 and 16.59 are driven directly via Mechelininkatu. Do not drive through the Taivallahti, Hietakannaksentie, Hietaniemi and Väinämöisenkatu stops.

In addition, the procession causes delays on lines 20, 25, 30, 37, 41, 42, 63 and 69 and on U-lines operating from Kamppi.

According to HSL, other protests can also delay traffic in the center of Helsinki.
