PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds IP will be expanded with New State, The Callisto Protocol, Cowboy and Titan.
Little more than four years have passed since the irruption of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in the industry, with a few months on PC where today it still holds the record for simultaneous players on Steam — more than 3.2 million users. Those responsible did not stop there and took the video game to consoles and mobiles, for now betting on the publication of other developments that have a very clear purpose as their object: create a metaverse around the battle-royale.
The term is becoming quite common in current news, and has been used by Chang-han Kim, CEO of PUBG Corp., to refer to the firm’s future plans around its successful IP in a recent talk collected by GamingonPhone. In it, Kim discussed many aspects of the company and its future, the synergies generated by users with PUBG Mobiles thanks to its periodic updates, but also dedicated a space to the future plans of the firm with the IP.
And these not only go through the battle-royale, but through the development of new video games under themes and times that are far removed from the original launch of the series. In this field, for example, we find for this course PUBG: NEW STATE, with more than 17 million reservations and the objective of evolving the genre setting its action in an anarchic 2051. For 2022 the landing of The Callisto Protocol is scheduled, a space survival-horror signed by one of the creators of Dead Space that urges the user to fight for his life in a prison in the orbit of Jupiter in 2320.
More distant are the premieres of Project cowboy, set in the Wild West, and Project Titan, of which no details have been shared. In addition, they are also working on digital comics in up to three different time frames and an animation project for which they have joined forces with the producer of the Castlevania series on Netflix as we collected on the pages of 3DJuegos a few days ago.
