Party says event was promoted in favor of the president, “with explicit electoral intention”
The PT presented this Sunday (17.Apr.2022) a representation in the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) against the president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for early electoral propaganda in the participation of “motorcycle” held on Friday (15.Apr), in São Paulo.
The party asks the Court to condemn Bolsonaro and Pastor Jackson Vilar, organizer of the event, to pay a fine, “given the promotion of ‘motociata’, motorcade and rally, with a request to vote, setting up an early electoral campaign”. The representation was signed by 10 lawyers. read the intact (1 MB).
Bolsonaro left São Paulo and traveled on a motorcycle through the countryside of São Paulo to the city of Americana. A 121 km stretch of the Bandeirantes highway was blocked for the event.
In addition to the Chief Executive, former Minister of Infrastructure Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), pre-candidate for the State Government, former Minister of the Environment Ricardo Salles, former Secretary of Fisheries Jorge Seif, and Bolsonarist federal deputies participate in motorcycle racing. The PT representation does not cite the other politicians.
The party argues that the motorcade was promoted in favor of Bolsonaro, who is a pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. According to the representation, the event was “openly an act of extemporaneous electoral propaganda, with an explicit electoral intention and disequilibrium of the dispute, which is prohibited by Brazilian legislation”.
Supporters of the acronym said that Bolsonaro’s involvement was “active and proactive”. They argued that the president:
- publicly called the event;
- he rode his motorcycle all the way, urging his supporters with gestures typical of his campaigns;
- paraded in an open car;
- climbed into a stereo car, asking for votes, explicitly and implicitly.
For the PT, Bolsonaro “took advantage of the opportunity to promote a real rally”. The event, according to the lawyers, is “one of the most traditional forms of campaign promotion and leverage, but which, obviously, is prohibited in this period, and may indicate that there were undue financial benefits to the candidate in the electoral dispute”.
“These promoted acts, and dubiously titled ‘Accelerates for Christ’, later resulted in a veritable rally asking for votes and attacks on the electoral system”
The representation also argues that the alleged act of anticipated campaign used public money for its accomplishment. According to the São Paulo Public Security Department, the cost of reinforcing police forces due to the demonstration was approximately R$ 1 million.
This is the 6th representation of the PT sent to the TSE in a week. The party had already called the Court 3 times a year. outdoors against the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva installed in Minas Gerais, Maranhão and Mato Grosso.
One of the pieces was placed in Divinópolis (MG). The following message appears, accompanied by a photo of Lula: “We here hate this communist thief. damn out”. In Imperatriz (MA), the former president is called “traitor to the country”. In Rondonópolis (MT), from “bandit”.
The party also sent 2 representations questioning alleged early electoral propaganda by Bolsonaro. The 1st concerns a motorcade held on April 8, during the ExpoLondrina 2022 event. It would have been organized by the federal deputy Filipe Barros (PL-PR) and by the Rural Society of Paraná, according to the PT. The other representation questions the “motorcycle” held on April 9 in Ibiporã, Paraná.
The president participated in the 2 events. The party asks Bolsonaro, Filipe Barros and the Rural Society of Paraná to be fined up to R$25,000.
