The psychologist bonus is state law. The decree of the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza with the methods of presentation of the application to access the psychologist bonus was published in the Official Gazette of 27 June. The overall budget is 10 million euros for 2022. The bonus can be used by people who, due to the pandemic emergency and the consequent socio-economic crisis, find themselves in a condition of depression, anxiety, stress and psychological fragility, and who are in a position to benefit from a psychotherapeutic path. As specified by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza “it will be INPS to offer the portal for reservations and will also be the payer with respect to the professionals who will become available and that the National Order of Psychologists is involving throughout Italy”. “Those who need help will be able to freely choose the professional among those who must have joined the initiative. The imagined mechanism will allow access to the contribution without charges or advances on the part of those who want to take advantage of the bonus” he adds.
“Now it’s up to INPS to start as soon as possible with the request and booking platform” tweeted Filippo Sensi of the Democratic Party. “A little thing about mental health, but a little thing done. And in the right direction.”
As stated in Studio Cataldi, the bonus for psychological assistance is a contribution of € 600 for each citizen who has an income of less than € 50,000 per year and needs to pay for psychotherapy sessions. For citizens there will therefore be no additional charges or advances to pay. The bonus aims to enhance assistance for individual and collective psychological well-being, also through access to psychology and psychotherapy services in the absence of a diagnosis of mental disorders, and to deal with situations of psychological distress, depression, anxiety, stress trauma. Particular attention is paid to children and adolescents, especially if they belong to families in financial difficulty.
