WD_BLACK SN850 has put their money into Western Digital’s WD_BLACK SN850 now available in stores.
More than half a year after its launch, PS5 will finally support different solutions to extend its internal storage. Specifically, two components from brands specialized in the manufacture of hard drives have already been confirmed, although only one of them has been chosen by the architect of the console himself, Mark Cerny, to host the installation of the next video games on your system.
Its about WD_BLACK SN850 from Western Digital which can currently be found in the company’s official store, starting at € 151.99 without heatsink and 500GB. It is an SSD capable of reaching 7,000 MB / s read and 5,300 MB / s write speeds “for a smooth, powerful and responsive gaming experience” on PC and now also on PlayStation 5.
Mark Cerny did not offer a clear answer on Twitter as to why he has chosen this SSD for his PS5 in the place of the other already confirmed by Seagate, the FireCuda 530. However, from 3DJuegos we recommend waiting for the launch of the new PS5 firmware to start to arrive the first more technical comparisons.
The PS5 SSD has been one of the specifications that more PlayStation 5 headlines left during its first phase of promotion, having shown at the launch of Ratchet and Clank: A dimension apart from what it is capable of. Lastly, you can read Sony’s guide to expanding PlayStation 5 storage.
