As reported by several online sources, including the well-known journalist Tom Warren of The Verge, it seems that PS5 Pro didn’t go in sold out in USA and UKsuggesting that demand is still lower than supply and that therefore there are no availability problems for the new Sony console.
This is simply empirical data linked to the continuous availability of the PS5 Pro, currently available in reservation at numerous retailers as well as PlayStation Direct, but it seems to be indicative of the general situation of the new Sony console due out on November 7th.
According to Warren, the price of $700 (€799 in our area) in fact “it means that the console will be easily available during the autumn”, implying that sales cannot be excessive, considering the high price at which the machine in question is sold.
Low demand or high inventory?
Obviously, several factors must be taken into consideration: the fact that the semiconductor crisis has been overcome means that we will not be faced with a scenario similar to that of the launch of the PS5, when the console could not be assembled at a pace suitable for keeping up with the request from the public.
However, there is also the fact that we are talking about a product dedicated to one niche of public, therefore it is quite normal to think that sales are not so extreme as to lead to sold out.
It is not even a limited collector’s model like the 30th Anniversary Edition, which instead recorded very different sales rates: in its normal state, a PS5 Pro is not an object of desire so irresistible as to make it unobtainable, evidently.
In any case, at least in the US and UK there is no sold out of PS5 Pro, which could be part of Sony’s plans or maybe not, but in fact they indicate that the console will easily be found in stores. The biggest consequences, in any case, seem to fall on the scalpers: those who hoped to be able to profit from a possible shortage of PS5 Pro stocks will probably be disappointed.
