The company had opened the sale in February, ‘report us’.
In February of this year the Canadian company Dbrand had launched the sale of specials panels for the PlayStation 5 in black color and with some small changes compared to the original ones. Although it was obvious that the move would have attracted Sony’s legal attention, the producers have even provoked on their site by going so far as to write “report us”.
Now of course from the hypothesis of legal action we have come to the practice, with a long document that was delivered to Dbrand and that accuses the company of having violated the intellectual property of PS5, also using the official logos, albeit “masking” them.
The request is of course “immediately and permanently cease all promotional and marketing activities and to cease the sale of panels that mimic the official configuration, including all products currently on sale on dbrand.com“.
Dbrand does not seem to agree entirely with this accusation and with the idea of having to permanently cease production, but for now they will have to surrender to the concreteness not only of the accusations but of the possible consequences that a legal action could have. However, the official statement seems to be quite combative: “we have decided to accept the terrorists’ requests … for now“, it is read on the company’s subreddit.
For the moment then, Dbrand was forced to stop selling its products, but it looks like it won’t stop there, given Sony’s harsh response to action. We’ll see.
