Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which appeared through PS Deals and apparently arrives on June 11, would represent the first title for PS2 emulated on PS4 and PS5 from 2019, probably taking advantage of a new software base for this operation, which could also be used for other titles.
It is likely that the game in question is part of the game shipment PlayStation Plus Premium of June, but what is particularly interesting is precisely the technology behind its inclusion in the modern catalogue, which could open the door to other arrivals.
A new official PS2 emulator for PS4 and PS5?
According to what is reported in the product description, the PS2 game should contain a series of new features for a title belonging to that console: “This title has been converted from the PS2 version to PS4 and PS5 with theaddition of new features“, reads the description.
It is not yet clear what it is, but it is possible that it is video filters, quick save, rewind and other elements that have been included in classic PS1 and PSP games within the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog.
There had already been a first batch of PS2 games in the Premium catalog, but emulation appeared severely lacking in those cases, so much so that it has raised several criticisms for the management of the games in question within the subscription service.
